Teaching philosophy
Teaching for me is a stimulating profession because every day is different and every student’s uniqueness creates an exciting environment. I teach all levels of Spanish language courses and thoroughly enjoy working with my students to help them accomplish their goals of language fluency. To accomplish course objectives, I do a variety of activities using a wide array of resources. Examples of activities I have employed in past language courses include reading a novel and writing a short story based on the novel’s theme, participating in webcam chats with native speakers about current events, debating issues of interest from Spanish-speaking countries, using service-learning to connect with the local Hispanic community, playing games such as Catch Phrase to help students learn vocabulary, watching movies, preparing authentic dishes, etc. It is my hope that students will enjoy their language learning experience and want to continue in their quest for fluency after they finish one of my courses.
