Having Seen Afar Off

Voices - The Chapel Hill Chorus, a community chorus based in Chapel Hill, NC, commissioned Coleman to compose a major new 35 minute work for double chorus and orchestra to celebrate their 40th Anniversary Season. The pieces consists of eight movements, each set on a text by poet Sara Teasdale. The poems are an ad hoc collection about the souls eternal journey from before creation, through mortal life, and on to immortality. The movements can also be performed as individual songs and/or with piano accompaniment instead of full orchestra.
