Teaching Music through Performance in Orchestra

In 2001, GIA Publications invited Coleman to write a chapter about his first published composition, Adieu, for their educational book series, "Teaching Music through Performance in Orchestra." The chapter gives background about the composer, the impetus for writing Adieu, the stylistic influences, and recommendations for interpretation and performance techniques.

Since its publication in 1994, Adieu has been widely performed throughout the world by university, high school, and advanced middle school orchestras, as well as by state and regional honor orchestras.
