The Arc of Helios and the Celestial Dial

Elon University Bands commissioned Coleman to compose a new work to celebrate the wind ensemble's first performance at Carnegie Hall on March 11, 2026. 

The work is a sort of "snapshot-in-motion" of the celestial clock governed by the cycles of the apparent movement of the sun through the heavens, beginning with a starry night and the first glow of the coming day, on to the apex of the ascendant sun, before receding to sunset, dusk, and another starry night.
