I started as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Biology at Elon University in the Fall of 2009. Prior to that I served as an adjunct member of the department for four years. I teach a variety of courses such as Genetics, Biochemical Basis of Disease and science courses for non-science majors. My background is in the area of biochemistry, cell biology, signal transduction and developmental immunology. I obtained my Ph.D. from Michigan State University in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. After earning my Ph.D., I served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at UNC-Chapel Hill in the School of Medicine. Here at Elon, my research primarily focuses on how cells of the immune system respond, biochemically, to environmental signals. While away from Elon, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two amazing little boys, Robert and Jack. |
