a course designed to study the blending of text, sounds,
and images in the media environment to create new media.
This course features units on visual literacy, photo
editing, audio processing, video editing, and web publishing.

a course designed to acquaint students with the basics of
audio, video, and student production; to develop understanding
of television and audio production equipment; and to familiarize
students with the production process.
Public and Presentational Speaking -
a course designed to study oral and nonverbal communication
in public and corporate settings.
Teaching Abroad Experiences:
Gutenberg to Film: Media's Impact on Western Society -
From the scribal culture of the middle ages to the current
digital revolution, communications technologies have shaped
our social and cultural values as well as our ways of knowing
and thinking. This course examines the impact of mass media
on Western Europe by highlighting the contributions of
print, broadcast, propaganda and film. Visit cities such
as London, Berlin, Munich, Prague, Salzburg and Heidelberg.
Experience the culture of these beautiful ancient cities
while learning about their significance in the history
of media.
Costa Rica: Media and Culture -
In this course students will learn about the history and
the current culture of Costa Rica. This interdisciplinary
course will focus on the advancement of media throughout
Costa Rican history. Furthermore, students will investigate
the various forms and sources of media used in Costa Rica
such as: magazines, newspaper, television and the Internet.
Different genre will be examined such as news, public relations
and advertising. This course will examine how the media reflects
the culture and society of Costa Rica as well as considering
how history shaped media. Throughout the course, the differences
between American media and Costa Rican media will be discussed.
