Personal Information
I have been at Elon since 1995, with previous academic positions at Franklin&Marshall College (Lancaster, PA), Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) and Colgate University (Hamilton, NY). I received my Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wyoming (Laramie, WY) in 1989. My MA and BA are both in economics, and are from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN).
I was born in Bedford, England, but grew up in upstate New York in Utica, where my parents still reside. I enjoy playing golf and tennis, and love the outdoors. I am an amateur photographer, an avid reader (especially the horror stories of Stephen King) and love most types of music. After a day of "being an economist" I enjoy an evening in my big ol' rocking chair, doing the NYTimes crossword puzzle and smokin' a cigar or two.
