9/11 Re:Constructions Project & Teaching in a Time of Tragedy
Read an interesting article today on Confessions of an Aca/Fan: The Official Weblog of Henry Jenkins, entitled Looking Back: The Re:Constructions Project. Jenkins discusses his teaching during and after September 11, 2001. I was reminded that we have a CATL seminar on Teaching in a Time of Tragedy.
Jenkins' article might make interesting reading beforehand. Details about the seminar below:
Teaching in a Time of Tragedy – Monday, September 24, 1:30-2:30, in Belk Pavilion 200. Join our conversation with professor, poet, novelist, and playwright Fred D’Aguiar, co-director of the Creative Writing program in the Department of English at Virginia Tech. We will reflect on how tragedy can affect teaching and learning. This session is co-sponsored by the African/African-American Studies program. Please RSVP to Barbara Guy (bguy@elon.edu) for the afternoon CATL conversation. Later that day (5pm) in Yeager Recital Hall, Professor D’Aguiar will read his poem “Elegy: Reflections on Life after Virginia Tech.”
