Oxford student gives fake lectures in China

Here's the stuff of nightmares: EducationGuardian.co.uk | Students | Oxford student faces legal action over Chinese trip.

Apparently this random Oxford student called Matthew Richardson was mistaken for New York University professor (international expert on finance) by the same name. He was hired to do a series of lectures in China; Due to a series of miscommunications, Mr. Richardson was under the impression that he would be giving a 2 hour lecture to high school students. He was actually supposed to give 20 hours of lectures to PhD students.

The article details how he got away with the ruse, and what made him finally leave China.

Hackers Hall of Fame

We talked about hackers a lot in Winter Term. Here is the Hackers' Hall of Fame from The Learning Channel. (This is the web site that accompanies the "Outlaws and Angels" video that we watched in class.) This site has some very interesting biographies of hackers/crackers, including historical anecdotes and photos of famous hacks.

Hi,

I noticed that on http://facstaff.elon.edu/mconklin/archives/2004_02_08_archive.html you link to http://tlc.discovery.com/convergence/hackers/bio/bio.html, but that page doesn't seem to be up any more. I found this page to be a good replacement, or addition:
