Biography
Lawrence L. Garber, Jr. . is Associate Professor of Marketing at the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from Yale University, and an AB from Brown University. He attended the Parsons School of Design for illustration and the Cleveland Institute of Art for painting.
Previously, he taught at Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (IMT), India, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to entering academe, Professor Garber was Senior Analyst in Marketing Sciences at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, now GlaxoSmithKline, RTP, NC, and BBDO Advertising, NYC; and was for several years a freelance illustrator in NYC whose clients included Fortune and Barron’s financial magazines, and Viking-Penguin and Holt-Rinehart Winston Publishers. He received the 2018 Emerald Literati Award as Outstanding Reviewer for the International Journal of Wine Business Research and named 2013 Reviewer of the Year by Marketing Education Review.
His research interests include visual information processing and persuasion, marketing communication and branding, nonprofit and arts marketing, marketing education, and the visual presentation of statistical data.
