Jessie L. Moore

I am an Associate Professor of Professional Writing and Rhetoric in the Department of English at Elon University, and this site highlights my professional work. My teaching, scholarship, and service move between and blend professional writing and rhetoric, second language writing, writing studies, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), and faculty development.

I coordinate the Professional Writing and Rhetoric undergraduate concentration in the English Major and previously coordinated College Writing (ENG 110), a required writing course in the university's first-year core.

In addition to teaching in these programs, I regularly teach and mentor undergraduate research in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I also teach in the Elon College Fellows Program, a fellows program for students majoring in the Arts and Sciences, and I advise the program's living-learning community.

I currently serve on the Conference on College Composition and Communication Executive Committee, and I was the founding chair-elect of the Second Language Writing Interest Section at TESOL. I also serve on the Carolinas Writing Program Administrators Board.
