    1. Homework review:  Behavior traits, Master Plans, needs assessment, and planning news article.
    2. Make master plan level site layouts for various communities ( towns, colleges, military bases, commercial, airports )
    3. Be able to conduct customer interviews to determine scope of work and make a space program data sheet.
    4. Create space relationship diagrams.
    5. Calculate net and gross square footage for various projects.
    6. Identify critical code impacts on building schematic layouts.

  1. HOMEWORK:

 

    1. Create a Facility Program Matrix for your house from the homework from Class 2 (HW item #5). Assume you are building in Colonial Williamsburg, VA in the historic district.  ( wood houses, no cars, no big yards ).
    2. Make a Space Performance Data Sheet for the following two rooms in your house:

q Kitchen:  gas supply, exhaust hood, stone floor, cabinets.

q Garage:  12’ high, sealed concrete floor, 220v outlets on two walls, no windows, electric doors.

    1. Create a space relationship bubble diagram for the project in supplement S 3.4
    2. Read Chapter 9  ( Division 17 Approximate Estimates ) in Means Data and Cost Works text.
    3. Redo “Mission” and “Guiding Principles” (using Supplement 1.4 from class 2), and put them in Procedure Manual format as shown in Supplement S 3.5.
    4. Read PMI Manual 1996 ed. , Project Management Context, P 125-131 and answer the following questions:

q List four phases of construction projects.

q List five key management skills for project managers.
