Public Events

As part of the world wide “Galilean Nights” star party in celebration of the International Year of Astronomy, the Elon University  Physics Department and the Alamance County Astronomy Club will be hosting an evening of stargazing at Northeast Park.   We will have several telescopes for viewing craters on the Moon, the Andromeda Galaxy, the moons of Jupiter, and the binary star Albireo.  Students will also pointing out constellations and displaying astronomy posters.

This event is free and open to the public.   If cloudy weather forces us to postpone the stargazing, we will reschedule for Sunday, October 25h.  Please call 336-278-6328 after 6:00 PM to find out if we will indeed be having the event.

Northeast Park will also be hosting its Haunted Trail that evening from 7:30 to 11:00 PM at a cost of $10 per person.
